DIY Social Media Video Seminar
brought to you by
Have you ever wished you had the budget to hire a video production company? Do you wish you had the skills and creativity to create your own videos for social media?
Join me and other small business owners to learn how to create engaging videos for social media with just your cell phone in as little as 15 minutes.
Here’s what we will cover:
DIY Social Media Seminar
101: Technique
Lighting
Good lighting doesn’t always mean expensive video lights. Windows and lamps can work just as well in many cases. We will talk about the principles of light so that you can find usable light anywhere you are.
Sound
Cell phones have surprisingly good microphones built in to them. I will teach you how to find good spaces and proper positioning to get the most out of your onboard mic, or step up your game with an inexpensive microphone.
Editing
Editing can make or break any video, but it’s easier than you think. Using a free editing app, I will show you the basics of creating a tight, engaging edit that is ready to post on all your socials.

201: Strategy
Storytelling Strategy
Hands-On Training
We will take the time to come up with a list of video ideas for you and then will begin the process of actually filming and editing a video. You will have the chance to ask questions and get immediate answers and assistance.
Lighting, sound, and editing aren’t worth anything without a good storytelling strategy. We will work together to come up with a short and long term strategy to implement on your social media channels, including specific, practical, actionable video ideas.
Shot on iPhone…
This is a simple video I made using the techniques that we will be covering in the the seminar. I shot it in my boring basement, using a pair of $7 lights from Menards and a $35 lav mic from Amazon.
This entire process took about 15 minutes:
Coming up with the idea
Filming three simple clips
Recording a simple voice over
Editing it in CapCut
Posting it to YouTube
